About

George Washington

This blog was created by high school social studies teacher Ian Westgate for his first semester freshman students, 2012. In this blog, you will be able to find a great number of resources all about the unit that we are studying: Leadership throughout History. In this unit, we will be looking at a number of famous (and infamous) people and personalities throughout history. By looking at these individuals, we will learn about common qualities of a leader, what drives people to follow and be inspired by leaders and, through this study, we will also see windows into a number of different historical eras.

Students, you are encouraged to use the comments section under each blog post in order to post your thoughts and opinions on the leaders and assignments that I'll be bringing up. A lively discussion is always the best and most interesting one and I hope that everyone will contribute their points of view on what makes a leader great and whether some of the leaders are better than others, and why. I expect that students will treat one another nicely and with respect. I want everyone to understand that, no matter how outlandish the view is, every opinion will be treated with weight and attention. Never fear to say what you think!
